Savonlinna Music Academy, founded in 1955, arranges every summer master courses for young talents in vocal and instrumental music, nowadays even in the winter time.

Half of the students come from abroad, professors from around the world.
During the decades some 5,000 musicians have ennobled their arts at the Music Academy.

Savonlinna Music Academy is internationally an unique institute of higher music education:
it is a precursor on fields of opera, Lied, and chamber music.

Professor Ralf Gothóni, pianist, composer, conductor and the Artistic Chairman of the Music Academy has mentored the Academy since 1978.

The maestro has worked internationally as Professor at numerous music universities and performs constantly in concerts across five continents.

Ralf is a fervent promoter of the idea of holistic musicality and its pedagogy.



On Summer 2022 we will organise 14 high-class Master classes in cooperation with Savonlinna Summer University and University of the Arts Helsinki – Sibelius-Academy. Our goal is to deepen the professional skills of young musicians and to promote the Finnish music life and its international relations. Savonlinna Music Academy’s extensive national and international networks enable organising Master classes for talented students in an unique environment. The Finnish tradition of music education, renowned professors, and the cultural atmosphere of Savonlinna give a possibility for students to develop themselves, communicate, and to create lifelong connections.
